If everyone knows Oasisthe association ofprofessional integration created in Lons-le-Saunier in 1984and that everyone, or almost everyone, has already been to their thrift store at least once, few people know the behind the scenes and operation.

Created in 1988 in the very heart of Bric à Brac located in industrial zonethe thrift store then moved rue du Pont-Neuf for a few years, before settling in its current location, mars 2015.

A structure which employs today nine employees in integration and one technical supervisoron the sixty people in integration and the eleven permanent of the association, and which represents nearlya third of the turnover of the latter, either 180,000 euros per year.

50% sold in store

But more than any number, it is the annual tonnage clothes that pass through the structure which is the most impressive: 180 tons.

“Clothes that are ours deposited directly in storeeither at Bric à Brac, or in our drop zones in one of the six recycling centers in the sector », specifies Cathy Grosfilleydirector of the association.

“And of this total, 50% are sold in store and the rest goes to Franc-Comtois textile collective of Sellières for recycling or then head towards theassociation Le Relais. »

But before that, the clothes donated to the Friperie will go through different stages. “We first do the sorting between clothes in good condition – without holes or stains and with all buttons and closures – and others. Then we plions before you ranger in boxes by categorybefore stocker then put them in stores according to the needs of the shelves. »

Several hundred kilos per week

So, these are several hundred kilos clothes, accessories, shoes et linen which pass through the hands of employees on a daily basis – in integration contract of 20 to 34 hours per week, over periods from 4 to 6 months renewable for up to two years – before being sold “to very varied customers : people in needbut also customers attracted by the second hand trendor even young people who are looking for specific pieces. »

All sold to very reasonable prices. “Our goal is for it to go away, because the main objective for us is for our employees in integration to work, not to make money. »

Exceptional sales

Because for several years, stocks have been more and more numerous. So much so that the thrift store looking for a new location where to move, so far in vain.

In the meantime, in order to sell the thousands of clothes that the association keeps in boxes, it organizes every Thursdayof the sales at 5 euros per kilo“also allowing us to bring in new customers. »

Despite everything, this is not enough, and to sell its stocks even more widely, Oasis had the idea of organizing a new exceptional sale – like those made by Bric à Brac – where the kilo will be this time sold for three euros. “For this meeting which will take place on October 25 and 26, 2024 at Carcomthese are more than 1 500 cartons that we are going to bring. »

With the hope of course, that all these clothes find buyers to free up space in the thrift store reserves.
