Residents are urged to exercise extreme caution. “Very heavy” rainfall accumulations are expected. Generally speaking, it is prohibited to travel, on foot or by car, on a submerged path or near a watercourse. “A vast disturbance is coming up from the south over the country and generating intense stormy precipitation in places,” recalls the Météo-France bulletin.
The situation is even more critical in the Auverne-Rhône-Alpes region this Thursday, where nearly 900 people have already been evacuated due to bad weather, the prefecture announced. This point, established at 4 p.m., included in particular 180 inhabitants of a district of Givors, in the Rhône, where a dike threatens to give way, specified the prefecture which underlines on the other hand the absence of injuries recorded at this stage.
