At the start of the day this Tuesday, President Michel De Grève read to the jurors and the lawyers of the civil parties the expert report reporting the death of the accused at Nivelles hospital, Thursday May 16 at the end of the morning. Attorney General Yves Moreau filed the death certificate this Tuesday. While his trial had been underway since Monday May 13, Xavier Tillieux was found hanged in his cell in Nivelles prison, during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. He was hospitalized in a condition described as very critical.
This Tuesday, given the situation which he described as “sad”, the attorney general asked the court to declare the public action extinguished. “It’s a tragedy, there’s nothing more we can say”indicated for their part the lawyers of the civil party, saying for the moment that they had no instructions from their client regarding the civil aspect of the debate.
Xavier Tillieux, aged 33, appeared before the Assize Court of Walloon Brabant for the murder – the characterization was contested by his lawyer – of an escort girl of Romanian origin, whom he had invited to his home in Ramillies in the night of November 5 to 6, 2022. He did not deny having given the victim several blows with a frying pan, which had caused head trauma which caused the death, according to the experts.
