As part of the third and fourth days of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the coach of the DR Congo team, Sébastien Desabre, unveiled yesterday the list of 25 players called up for the match against Senegal on June 6, at the Abdoulaye Wade stadium in Diamniadio
The coach of the DR Congo team has unveiled his list of 25 players summoned to play in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Senegal (June 6) at the Me Abdoulaye Wade stadium in Diamniadio, and against Togo. For this first gathering since the Can in Ivory Coast, where the leopards took a respectable 4th place, Desabre will have to cope without his star attackers Cédric Bakambu and Silas Katompa, both of whom have withdrawn. However, the team welcomes three new recruits. Among the goalkeepers, the French technician decided in favor of Dimitri Bertaud and Esdras Kabamba to accompany Timothé Fayulu.
In defense, the former Uganda player decided to trust Chancel Mbemba and Axel Tuanzebe. Central defender Axel Tuanzebe, aged 26 and playing for Ipswich own, former English international hopeful, joins the ranks of the DRC. To accompany them, Gédéon Kalulu, Jorris Kayembe, Henock Inonga, Dylan Batubinsika and Rocky Bushiri are all summoned. In the midfield, the presence of Noah Sadiki, a young 19-year-old midfielder from Us Saint-Gilloise (D1 Belgium), is one of the surprises on this list. Born in Brussels, he chose to play for the “Red Devils”.
To accompany the arrival of the new player, Desabre summoned Charles Pickel, Aaron Tshibola, Edo Kayembe, Samuel Moutoussamy, Grady Diangana, Gaël Kakuta, Meschac Elia, Chadrac Akolo and Theo Bongonda, all convincing during the last African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast. No surprises in attack, it’s classic: Samuel Essende, 26-year-old striker trained at PSG and currently performing well at Vizela (D1 Portugal) with 15 goals this season, comes to strengthen the attack. We also find Yoana Wissa, Fiston Mayele and Simon Banza.
