As part of the documentary “La Guerre des Gaules” on the France 5 program Sciences grand format broadcast on Thursday evening, director Laurence Thiriat and her team visited the Uxellodunum site, in Saint-Denis-lès- Martel, at the beginning of October.
For her, it was a question of talking about the site thanks to the expertise of Alexandre Bertaud, head of archaeological operations, protohistory specialty in the environment heritage and sustainable development department, but also of interviewing Roger Mialet, president of the association les Friends of Uxellodunum. An important place will be given to this remarkable site in the documentary, the total duration of which is 90 minutes.
Filming took place from Friday October 4 to Sunday October 6. On Friday, filming with Gallic archers, in particular Patrick de Vayrac, and a reenactor from another group, the Eleutetes. On Saturday, filming on the set with first presentation of the results of the Lidar surveys (distance measurement technique based on the analysis of the properties of a light beam) carried out in 2023, flight over the set with drones. On Sunday, the filming was mainly focused on exploring the galleries.
A film debate around the documentary is planned for 2025 at the Uxello cinema in Vayrac.
