It’s been more than three months since Coralie Gheeraert and her husband lost their dog Loby. The latter fled when he was attacked by shepherd dogs during a hike to the Morgon peak. Coralie and her husband were on vacation in Barcelonnette.

The facts date back to July 1. That day, Coralie, her husband Diego, her brother, her sister-in-law and her mother returned quietly from their hike in Morgon (Hautes-Alpes) at the end of the afternoon when suddenly their dog Loby was attacked by five patous.

“They arrived very quickly! My brother took Loby by the neck to protect him but unfortunately the dogs managed to bite him on his hindquarters,” Coralie tells BFM DICI.

“While trying to escape, my brother and Loby fell into the nearby ravine. The shepherd asked my brother to let go of the dog and Loby, taken with fear, fled into the forest,” she adds.

Spotted at several times

Since this event, Loby has disappeared and his owners are desperately looking for him. After the incident, for around twenty days, Coralie and her companion Diego traveled through Morgon.

Since then, they have called for help on social networks, distributed leaflets and went door to door but nothing helped. The seven-year-old dog remains untraceable.

However, thanks to the mobilization of hikers, Loby was seen several times during the month of July, notably in the Morgon car park or near Savines-le-Lac. But he was never caught. The last report dates back to August 30: a lady reportedly saw him in the streets of the Réallon station accompanied by another black dog.

Coralie has since returned to and checks her phone every day waiting for good news. “It’s a very sad situation, something that weighs on us every day,” she confides.

This Monday, October 14, Loby has still not been found. It has easily recognizable distinctive signs: a docked tail, one ear raised and the other lowered, as well as blue eyes with a black outline.

People who see Loby are invited to contact Coralie at 07.83.37.97.03.
