Could the return of former President Macky Sall to Senegal be threatened?

Since the launch of accountability, many members of the former regime have been the subject of legal investigations, and some have even been arrested. This raised questions about the responsibility of former President Macky Sall in these matters.
Although his situation is unclear, he faces an avalanche of attacks and threats on social media. For many, his freedom would be threatened if he returned to Senegal, especially with his candidacy for the next legislative elections.

During a recent meeting, Amadou Moustapha Dièck Sarré provided details on the current state of justice. He said: “Since April 2, 2024, the rule of law has been fully established in our country. All citizens, regardless of their position, have the right to complete security. However, this implies that everyone is subject to the law. » He stressed that those who have managed the country’s affairs cannot escape justice if they are accused of wrongdoing.

Dièck Sarré also assured that Macky Sall’s security would be guaranteed by state services, as former president. However, Boubacar Camara joked that, to ensure his safety, Macky Sall should ask Ousmane Sonko to accommodate him at his home, insinuating that without this he could not be at peace.
