The 18th edition of the Cultures Hip Hop Festival will begin in Concarneau at the CAC on October 19, with two headliners: Sniper, a key figure in French rap, and Thibaees, a young rapper from Rosporden. Among the highlights, we will find a breakdance battle in Pleyben, an African rap concert with Sinto Pap at Les Planches in Quimper, urban strolls during the inauguration of the festival on Place Saint-Corentin on October 23; various ceramic and graffiti workshops to immerse yourself in the world of street art, demonstrations of Hip Hop New School at Ravy in Quimper, a Jazzwave evening at L’Athéna d’Ergué-Gabéric, or the screening of the film “Writers” at the Elliant media library.
International battles
Dance will obviously be in the spotlight with the choreographic performances of the One Father company at L’Amétthyste in Crozon, before the big closing evening on November 9 at Novomax, with Eesah Yasuke and Fanny Polly, rising figures of modern rap.
The flagship event of the festival will take place on October 26 at the Pavillon de Quimper, with international battles bringing together teams of four dancers from France, Brazil, Canada, China and Taiwan, judged by an internationally renowned jury. “The Cultures Hip Hop Festival is art in our lives and in the street,” underlines Anne Vari Chapalain, deputy mayor of Quimper who reaffirms the support of the Quimper municipality.
