Pair Luis Filipe Tavares*
In a speech imbued with wisdom and resolute determination, His Majesty King Mohammed VI recently called for increased mobilization to defend the Kingdom’s position regarding the Moroccan Sahara issue. This message resonates as a vibrant call for national unity and collective vigilance, thus reinforcing the crucial importance of this cause for the territorial integrity and identity of Morocco. As friends of Morocco, we must also seize this call.
Collective mobilization, as Her Majesty emphasized, is not only a political imperative, but also a civic obligation. Every citizen, every institution and every segment of Moroccan society, including us, friends of Morocco, must stand up without hesitation against any questioning of the sovereignty of this nation. This fight is fundamental not only for the defense of the integrity of Moroccan territory, but also for the preservation of its national dignity as well as peace in the region and across the African continent.
The growing recognition of Morocco’s historic rights to the Sahara by influential nations such as the United States, France and Spain represents a significant step forward. It testifies to the tireless efforts made by the Kingdom on the international diplomatic scene. However, we must not rest on laurels, however precious they may be. It is imperative that our efforts continue, because we, as politicians and friends of Morocco, have the sacred duty to convince more States of the indisputable legitimacy of this cause, relying on legal, political arguments and solid histories.

His Majesty the King also stressed the need for reinforced coordination between the different Moroccan institutions and political parties involved in this noble struggle. A united front, both nationally and internationally, is essential to amplify Morocco’s message and ensure its respect on the world stage. To do this, it is vital that Moroccan political and diplomatic actors collaborate in a synergistic manner, thus consolidating the collective force necessary to defend Morocco’s sovereignty throughout its territory.
Finally, the role of partisan and parliamentary diplomacy is of crucial importance in this process. It is imperative to strengthen internal structures within the Moroccan Parliament in order to prepare strong and competent delegations, capable of defending the Kingdom’s position with determination and conviction at regional and international forums.
Let us unite in this effort to make the voice of Morocco resonate loud and clear. Together, we can guarantee that the Moroccanness of the Sahara is fully recognized and respected by the entire international community.
