“The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs proposed these measures to attract as many visitors as possible, as the national economy relies heavily on tourism”said government spokesperson Chai Wacharonke.

Wacharonk said the number of countries eligible for visa-free entry would increase from 57 to 93. Besides Morocco, 35 other countries are eligible namely Albania, Cambodia, China, India, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Laos, Mexico, Panama, Romania, Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan. .

Visitor stays under this program have also been extended to 60 days, the government spokesperson said. Visa on arrival was also approved for 31 countries, up from 19 countries.

According to the same Source, visitors who wish to work and visit tourist destinations will be able to obtain five-year visas valid for stays of up to 180 days, renewable for an additional 180 days. They were previously only entitled to two stays of 30 days each, said the government spokesperson.

“This measure targets digital nomads, remote workers and freelancers… as well as those who want to learn Muay Thai and Thai cuisine. They can both learn and visit places,” he explained.
