Yoro Dia, former minister spokesperson for the presidency under the Macky Sall regime, flatly refuted the information from the newspaper Jeune Afrique, according to which the former president will campaign for the legislative elections from Morocco for fear of being brought to justice upon his return to the country.

Macky Sall has nothing to reproach himself for and is free to come to Senegal whenever he wants (…). It’s ridiculous to announce the arrest of a former president for a hypothetical budget deficit. So, Biden would have the electric chair and Macron the guillotine. Power must show serenity, because fear is always a bad advisor. According to the former representative of Macky Sall, the former President expressed the desire to stay in Morocco since the end of his mandate in order to leave room for his successor. “The only problem is that as a good republican, he respects a tradition which goes back to Senghor which consists of settling abroad so as not to embarrass his successor. This tradition has been respected by all former presidents.
