Founded in 2012, the Fête du Slip, renamed the Artistic Festival of Affects, Genders and Sexualities (FdS), is pulling the plug. The current context, marked by financial, logistical and human challenges, makes the continuation of this event impossible, the organizers announced on Wednesday.

Created in 2012 by Viviane and Stéphane Morey, the FdS continued its journey under the direction of Valentina D’Avenia from 2021. In 2023, it experienced its eleventh and final edition, indicates a press release.

A pioneer from its creation, the FdS had sexualities as its theme. It offered a “rare space in the canton of Vaud” to address questions relating to the body, identity, gender and different sexual practices.

This festival made it possible to destigmatize a little-known and little-known culture, through several disciplines such as cinema, visual arts, dance, performing arts, music and literature. It made it possible to promote local specialists on the subjects of feminism.

A pioneer, locally and globally, the FdS has also changed mentalities through its political discourse, which is necessary in view of the numerous attacks against the rights of the LGBTIQ+ community. Its international cultural reputation has helped to promote Lausanne as an inclusive city.

By concluding this chapter, the organizers hope to inspire new initiatives adapted to current challenges. Various institutions were contacted for conservation of the festival archives. The residual property will be bequeathed to an association which pursues the same goals. The committee will disband upon finalization.
