“A great family adventure”

With nearly 27,000 subscribers on Instagram and more than 1,090 on TikTok, the 4 Vandrouilleurs are starting to make a name for themselves in the world of travel blogging. Well, four names, to be precise, since Olivier, the father, is in the family; Stéphanie, the mother; Maxence, 17 years old, and Maëlie, 12 years old, travel across France and Europe, in a van, to highlight and highlight different tourist sites. “The principle of what we do? It’s quite simple: we move as a family and we share our experiencesexplains Olivier, the kind organizer of these colorful outings. It all started in 2018, when we rented a van to go on vacation with the kids. It went so well that we decided, the following year, to buy our own vehicle. We shared our videos and photos on social media, and it just went from there…” The little family has become… influential.

And since 2022, Olivier has left his sales job to live on nothing but this: “We are what we call content creators. » This means that he earns his living by promoting tourist sites for tourist offices and municipal departments. He ? Yes. Because Stéphanie has kept her job as an occupational therapist, in Tours, the city where the family lives.

“The goal is to show tourists the richness of the territory”

This Friday, May 10, 2024, the 4 Vandrouilleurs were in Indre, following an order from the Indre Attractiveness Agency, co-financed by the regional tourism committee of Centre-Val de Loire. “Thursday May 9, we were canoeing in Eure-et-Loir, and this Friday, we are here, in Argentomagus. We obviously came by van. At the same time, we go to the Menoux church, then to Lake Éguzon, to ride an electric boat, mountain bike, and take pictures at the Fileuse rock. Saturday May 11, we have an appointment in Brenne, for a hiking trail. » On the menu, videos, photos, and an article whose mission is to make their subscribers want to come and spend some time in Berry. “This order is linked to the proximity of the Olympic Games, Olivier explains. The goal is to show tourists the richness of the territory. »

“The children follow a normal schooling”

To achieve this, the father calls on his wife and children. And everyone willingly joins in the game! “It’s a great family adventure, notes Stéphanie, the mother. I am lucky, in my job, to have the time off that allows me to make all these trips. » And to specify, as a good mother, that “we don’t live in a van all year round! We have a house, and our children attend normal schooling. Maxence will be taking his French baccalaureate in a few weeks, in fact, and we have obviously taken this into account in planning our trips. »

The 17-year-old young man, with his cap screwed back on his head, does not complain: “Since my father chose this professional path, we spend more time with him. » His little sister follows suit: “We do lots of things together, and we don’t go away every weekend either! »
