This Friday, May 10, 2024, a fire broke out at the Double A paper mill factory in Alizay (Eure), near Pont-de-l’Arche, classified Seveso low threshold. Twenty firefighters were mobilized to control the flames. Details.

The facts occurred this Friday: at 9:42 a.m., the Eure firefighters intervened for a fire in the Clos Pré industrial zone, in Alizay (Eure). 500 kg of paper caught fire on a conveyor belt in the paper factory. The latter is classified Seveso.

On site, 20 firefighters managed to put out the fire using four armed fire taps and a hose, specifies the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS) of Eure.

In total, 6 employees were inconvenienced by the fumes. Two of them were treated by emergency services and sent to the Elbeuf hospital center. Two others were sent to Rouen University Hospital. The last two refused the slightest intervention.

At 1:30 p.m., the fire was extinguished and the firefighters’ intervention was completed. The SDIS indicates that the site’s Sprinkler network (the automatic water extinguishing system) remains operational.

No employee was placed on technical unemployment and activity was able to resume normally.
