SENEGAL-PREPARATION TABASKI / Linguère: a validated action plan for good marketing of sheep during Tabaski – Senegalese press agency

Louga, May 9 (APS) – The prefect of the Linguère department validated, on Friday, an action plan aimed at guaranteeing the smooth running of operations for the purchase and sale of sheep for Tabaski.

”We have validated an action plan aimed at allowing breeders in the Linguère department to sell their animals in complete peace of mind, without an excessive increase in sheep prices,” declared Modou Thiam.

The head of the departmental executive spoke with journalists at the end of a departmental development committee (CDD) devoted to the preparation of Tabaski.

He underlined that ”this meeting aims to bring together departmental services and all stakeholders in the livestock sector around a table, to discuss the CRD [comité régional de développement] of Louga and the Prime Minister’s circular, relating to the exemption from tax duties and the reduction of vehicle controls to facilitate the transport of livestock. ”The other goal is to look at the results of Tabaski 2023, with a view to consolidating the achievements before planning for the sheep festival of 2024,” he added.

A little over a month before the celebration of the Tabaski festival, the prefect of Linguère, Modou Thiam, calls for ”the mobilization, experience and proven expertise of all stakeholders, to satisfy the demand of the populations of Linguère for rams”.

”Security, livestock theft, water, electricity, which are the main grievances of Linguère breeders expressed during this departmental preparatory development committee dedicated to the tTbaski, were taken into account in the action plan,” he underlined.

”Instructions were given to the various services and municipal authorities, in particular the mayors and the defense forces who ensure the safety of people and property at the sheep sales points, especially in Dahra and Linguère, which constitute the two main fairs in the department,” he said.
