Sun and summer temperatures: that’s all we wanted for Ascension weekend. Yesterday, the outdoor pools of the Vernets swimming pool opened for the 2024 summer season. Some have already been able to take advantage of them.
Almost noon and already 19 degrees. Under a completely open sky, the sun is strong. It’s time to refresh. It is now possible to take a dip in the outdoor swimming pools of the City of Geneva. That of Vernets opened yesterday. There are not many people in the water yet, however, the opening of the swimming pool is enough to delight the first comers.
A mother, accompanied by her children, tells us: “The water is good, it’s nice. They managed to swim outside already. We thought the water would be fresher, but it’s good.” Another bather adds: “We were very lucky because the other weeks it rained a lot. So it’s such a beautiful day for this day off.” “The sun has arrived. So people started coming. They started to enjoy the diving board and the good weather, so that’s nice.” says one of the pool lifeguards.
The weekend promises to be even hotter
The mercury will reach up to 25 degrees this weekend. The weather is good for morale. The lucky ones were able to spend Ascension with their family, under the sun. “Since it was a holiday, my mother and brother came to play in the pool.” says the young bather. “Me, I go to the swimming pool with my mom and my sister.” adds his brother. Their mother explains to us: “So I came with my children. As they have time off, it’s the Bridge, we took advantage of the finally nice weather. Coming to the Vernets swimming pool is always nice.”
In the City of Geneva, the Varembé swimming pool is also open. Just like that of Fontenette in Carouge. All swimming pools will be open by May 15.
