The draw for the establishment of the annual list of assize jurors of Savoie for the year 2025 will take place this Monday, May 13, 2024 from 1:30 p.m., municipality room at the Town Hall of ‘Albertville.
Hervé Bernaille, deputy mayor of Albertville, is responsible for publicly carrying out this draw from the electoral lists of the following 16 municipalities: Albertville, Allondaz, Bonvillard, Cevins, Cléry, Esserts-Blay, Montailleur, Monthion, Notre Dame Des Millières, Plancherine, Rognaix, Saint-Paul sur Isère, Saint-Vital, Sainte-Hélène, Tournon, Tours en Savoie, Verrens-Arvey. This is due to the fact that Albertville is the centralizing municipality for the cantons of Albertville 1 and Albertville 2. In total, 81 names will be retained.
To be selected, jurors must meet the following cumulative conditions:
– Be at least 23 years old,
– Be of French nationality,
– Know how to read and write,
– Not be in a case of incapacity or incompatibility with jury duty.
At the end of the draw, which is open to the public, those drawn will be notified by mail and will have one month to return an information questionnaire.
What is an assize jury?
The jurors are judges in their own right. These are citizens chosen by lot who participate in the trial of people accused of crime in the Assize Court. During trials, they act and deliver their judgment alongside professional magistrates.
