A geomagnetic storm of severe force (G4) will disrupt the magnetosphere this night of May 10 to 11, which will favor the formation of northern lights in the sky, for everyone’s viewing pleasure.
The atmospheric phenomenon should begin to be visible between 11 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m., with an intensity Kp of 7 on a scale of 9, before intensifying between 2 and 5 a.m. to become a severe storm (Kp of 8.33). Note that it is before dawn that it is advisable to observe them.

The sky will be partly cloudy tonight, but the Kp index should be greater than 7 which means that it is possible to observe auroras everywhere in Quebec. Even in southern Quebec, it will be possible to see the Northern Lights.
