Paris: an antique dealer attacked and works of art destroyed on Boulevard Saint-Germain

This complete attack would have resulted in damage estimated at several million euros. An antiques dealer was attacked Thursday evening in Paris (7th arrondissement) by three strangers who destroyed his precious merchandise.

It was 10:50 p.m. when the police were called to Boulevard Saint-Germain. The manager of this store is in bad shape. He suffered from bleeding wounds on his face and head. He was transported by the firefighters, without a life-threatening condition, to the Cochin hospital (14th century). The injured man told the official that when he was closing his business, three men wearing helmets and armed with iron bars surprised him. “They hit the gallery owner. They broke valuable art objects and paintings before fleeing. According to the complainant, there was no theft,” specifies a Source close to the case.

This Friday, the mystery hangs over this story. The investigations were entrusted to the BROC group of the banditry suppression brigade which specializes in art thefts. They will first interview the victim and better understand their personality. The investigators will be interested in his business relationships to try to identify the trio of thugs. “The police will of course have to confirm the amount of the damage and will verify the statements of the complainant,” adds another Source cautiously.

This man manages this establishment which has been established on the street since 2016. “He sells and buys jewelry and antique objects in France and around the world. His company, with a capital of 5,000 euros, is owned by two shareholders with a 50% share,” specifies Infografe. A brief search on these catalogs shows ancient statues. Contacted, the Paris prosecutor’s office did not respond to us.
