Dakar, Oct 7 (APS) – The Minister of National Education, Moustapha Mamba Guirassy, said he was “very satisfied overall” with the start of the 2024-2025 school year, after a visit on Monday to some schools in the Dakar academy.

”Overall we are very satisfied. The schools are ready, the children are ready and the teachers are there. The major innovation is that, this year, we asked the central level to deploy everywhere in the Dakar region, to academy inspectors and education and training inspectors, to do the same in the other regions and departments,” said the minister.

Moustapha Guirassy stressed that despite the massive departures of teachers in certain regions (200 to 300), “an extremely important approach was initiated by the ministry to guarantee the same number of teachers in order to allow the effectiveness of +oubi tay -Jang tay+”.

Today, he underlined, “in all regions, in all academy inspections (IA), the inspectors have service orders (OS), which designate the professors, the teachers who come to replace those who had been assigned to other localities”.

He also praised the commitment and mobilization of communities, in particular neighborhood sports and cultural associations, the “bajenu gox” (neighborhood godmothers, other ministerial departments, during the cleaning day dedicated to the school.

”Everyone mobilized to respond to the call of the Head of State who dedicated October cleaning day to the school. This allowed schools to be ready, facilitating the effectiveness of the start of the school year,” rejoiced the minister.

However, Moustapha Mbamba Guirassy notes that “there are still certain schools in certain regions which are unfortunately in water”. He assured that his department is working on this issue in order to provide answers.

At the Cathedral College, one of the stages of his visit, the Minister of National Education made a point of recalling the State’s commitment to supporting the education system as a whole. “In reality, it is a single school, it is the Senegalese school, it is a single nation, the Senegalese nation and everything will be done to ensure that this cohesion is reinforced,” he said. assured the minister.

“Everything will be done so that these schools, in their diversity, continue to support students, with their talents, their skills, their experiences, the education system and our children. And the objective of the head of government is above all to preserve this cultural diversity which makes the singularity, the distinctive sign of this country,” he underlined.

For a country that needs its human capital, we cannot afford to lose a single child along the way.

”So, every child, no matter the region they come from, no matter their religion, no matter their culture, the school must support them to seek from them the talents and skills they need to participate in the development of our nation,” added the minister.
