Fatal hit-and-run: killed while changing a tire on Highway 15

A man in his thirties died after being hit by a van driver who fled on Thursday in Laval.

The accident occurred around 5:15 a.m. on Highway 15 heading north near the Gédéon-Ouimet bridge.

According to initial information, a vehicle traveling northbound stopped in the right lane due to a flat tire.

While changing a tire, the driver of the vehicle was violently struck by a pick-up truck which fled without stopping.

Police officers dispatched to the scene found the victim unresponsive, said a spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

A reconstructionist had to travel to the site to shed light on the cause and circumstances of this fatal accident.

Two out of three lanes were closed to traffic, which caused massive congestion on Highway 15 heading north during the morning.

Witnesses wanted

During the afternoon of Thursday, investigators asked for the public’s help in finding witnesses to a hit-and-run.

The driver who fled was at the wheel of a white Ford F-150 model van, according to a press release from the SQ.
