During the 18th edition of the Assises du tourisme, financial support of $24.1 million was announced for the development of tourism projects in the Capitale-Nationale region, “several of which will contribute to improving or increasing hotel capacity , both in terms of quantity and quality of the offer,” indicates a press release published by the Ministry of Tourism.

In the Capitale-Nationale region, in August 2023, the average hotel occupancy rate had reached more than 80%.

More generally, for the province, the government plans investments totaling $46.5 million to support the development of the tourism industry.

This sum is divided between an envelope of $25 million as part of the Tourism Industry Recovery Assistance Program, an investment of $20 million in the form of loans or guarantees in 2024-2025 for the Program support for the development of tourist attractions, and a sum of $1.5 million dedicated to the development of regional parks.

“The economic development of our regions requires a strong tourism industry,” warned the Minister of Tourism and Minister responsible for the Lanaudière region, Caroline Proulx.
