A body lying in the center of the arena. A herd of couriers – somewhat panicked – cover him with dust. The first image of the second episode of the new TF1 series “La Recrue”, broadcast on Monday evening, sets the scene for this intrigue filmed in the heart of the Landes. Aficionados will not have been fooled and will have recognized the arenas of Philippe Bats’ ganaderia in the town of Aurice.
Indeed, the production of this series carried by actors Thierry Neuvic and Ethann Isidore (who was revealed in “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny”) gives pride of place to the Landes department during the six episodes of this first season. Particularly with this plot taking place in the bullfighting environment.
Not a first
In this second episode, the rest of the filming took place in the Bayonne arenas this time, where we see Landes matador Julien Lescarret appear on screen. “They contacted me a few months ago, particularly to find practitioners and aficionados,” he explains. The former matador passed a few tests and found himself “in front of the camera during a day of filming”. We see him appear with young people from the Soustons bullfighting school. “Filming took place last year between September and October,” he continues.

He plays opposite young Ethaan Isidore, 17 years old, one of the main actors in “La Recrue”. “He’s quite curious. He asked a lot of questions to find out things,” explains Julien Lescarret. We saw him appear in particular with the light outfit in the ruedo.
This is not a first for Julien Lescarret who also appeared in an episode of “Sections de recherche”, also broadcast on TF1, a little over ten years ago. The matador had played his own role, the year he hung up his suit of light for good. Experiences to which Julien Lescarret subscribes “without caution” as long as it “is fiction”.
