A 200 year old tree fell between Castelnaud-la-Chapelle and the Château des Milandes, in front of the Château de Fayrac, on the night of Wednesday May 8 to Thursday May 9. “It blocks the entire road and given its size, it is impossible to remove it without a crane”indicates Angélique Delabarre, the owner of the castle.

A detour to access the castle

A disaster while the castle planned to refuel with the Ascension Bridge. The tree, which had “the feet in water” with the flooding of the Dordogne, was uprooted in the evening. It was undoubtedly the heavy rains of the last few days which caused it to subside, flooding the land with water.

Municipal teams worked at 8 a.m. Thursday morning to open a diversion.

The municipal teams, helped by the department, put up signs to make a detour to access the castle coming from Beynac and the Castelnaud bridge, but it takes twenty minutes longer to access the building. The Château des Milandes is always easily accessible from the other side, coming from Saint-Cyprien via Allas-les-Mines.
