The Baraque à Frat project Little Brothers of the Poor (mobile truck) aims to recreate links, solidarity and friendliness to combat the isolation of seniors in rural areas. Volunteers are needed in the area Forges-les-Eaux, Argeuil And Gournay-en-Bray (Seine-Maritime).

Become a volunteer

This is possible thanks to a traveling team which makes it possible to offer training times met intergenerational as close as possible to people isolated. On the community of communes of 4 Rivières en Bray the action begins in the town of Argueil.

Two afternoons per month

The volunteers’ mission could begin from May 20, 2024. “

It will consist of two afternoons per month, on Fridays, of picking up elderly people from their homes, bringing them to a common room for manual activities, intergenerational meetings, having coffee, telling the history of their villages… Everything that seniors want to do.

Camille Romano, social development coordinator in Pays de Bray

Participate in reducing isolation

The profiles sought are people who live in the Pays de Bray sector, have the driving license and are aware of the isolation of seniors.

Volunteers will participate in entertainment collective and the development of projects meeting the expectations of the people welcomed.

Training

“At Les Petits Frères des Pauvres de Normandie, for the volunteersthere are training. Because there is a whole specific process to take to bring in the person who no longer goes to others on their own. The goal is to create linksolidarity.”

The goal is for the Frat Baraque volunteers to be autonomous. “There is nothing worse for an isolated person than waiting for someone to come and no one arriving,” insists Camille Romano.
