two big favorites and a few challengers in the Marne and the Ardennes

Among the myriad of competing lists (22 to date…), each counting 81 candidates, competing in the European elections on June 9, several stand out according to the polls. And some have, in very good places, two eligible Marne candidates.

Anne-Sophie Frigout first of all, regional councilor for the Grand Est and ex-MP for Marne, appears in 8e place on the National Rally list of Jordan Bardella, credited with more than 30% of the votes. Suffice it to say that the 33-year-old Marnaise, from the Debout la France party, is almost guaranteed to become a MEP in a month.

Contacted, the teacher at the Fismes college (history-geography) does not speak the language: “ I am honored by the trust of Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella. I am very happy to be able to envisage a new parliamentary mandate, this time at European level” (after the national mandate shortened by the invalidation of his election in the 2022 legislative elections).

At the other extreme, France Insoumise also has a favorite from Marne: Anthony Smithin 4e position on the list led by Manon Aubry. Labor inspector and CGT union leader, the Châlonnais made himself known during the health crisis, being sanctioned after demanding masks for home help. After three years of a highly publicized fight, he made a reputation for himself, reinforced by his candidacy (NUPES) for the legislative elections on the 4e Marne constituency (3e at the end of the first round, with 18.79% of the votes).

Two years later, with 8% voting intentions for the Insoumise list, Anthony Smith can reasonably hope to enter the European Parliament in a month.

Dimitri Oudin (Horizons) joins the majority list, but in an ineligible position

Behind these two favorites, there are a few challengers. On the Renaissance list (presidential majority), Dimitri Oudin, deputy (Horizons) to the mayor of Reims, is to be followed. However, he escaped eligible positions. Already a candidate in 2019, he declared himself, on Tuesday, ” very honoured “ to have joined the list in 40e position.

Juliette de Causans 2e on his list

Also worth watching is the result of Ardennese Juliette de Causans, whose retouched poster boosted notoriety. In 2e place on the “Ecology at the center” list, however, to go to Strasbourg, its list would need to obtain at least 5% of the votes. Which seems out of reach at this point.

Finally, note that the left-wing list carried by Raphaël Glucksmann, which is on a good dynamic (14% of voting intentions, just behind the Macronists), does not hold any surprises in our departments: it does not in fact include any “local of the stage” (neither Marne, nor Ardennes, nor Axonais).
