Six people arrested on Saturday after a demonstration against “fascist transphobia” in Paris saw their police custody extended on Sunday. Early Saturday afternoon, 63 people were arrested in the Jussieu district for participation in an armed group, possession of weapons and explosives and other related offenses, the prosecution said. 46 procedures were finally closed on Sunday for insufficiently characterized infringement, eleven for irregularities.
The prosecution specified that these arrests took place “during a demonstration organized against fascist transphobia, concomitant with a signing session of a targeted author from the nationalist movement”. On sites of the anti-fascist movement, texts were published during the week denouncing the “little party” planned for Saturday “mainly around Marguerite Stern and Dora Moutot”, authors of the controversial book “Transmania” (Ed. Magnus, published in April ) and “other names from the fascist sphere”.
Authors highly criticized in the feminist movement
In the feminist movement, these authors are vilified for their repeated criticism of gender transitions, which earns them several complaints. Their book presents itself as an “investigation into the excesses of transgender identity” which “infiltrates all spheres of society”.
The six police detentions were extended for participation in a group with a view to committing violence or damage, some for possession of a weapon, rebellion or damage. Two of them are also for violence against persons holding public authority.
