The St. Gallen singer Joya Marleen, the Basel singer Baschi and the Bernese group Züri West were named artists of the year on Wednesday in Zurich during the Swiss Music Awards 2024. The Geneva rapper Slimka is the best French-speaking artist.
The public had until April 21 to nominate their favorite artists. In the ‘Romandie’ category, Slimka was opposed to two women, the Lausanne singer-songwriter Nnavy and the Jura rapper Baby Volcano.
Other French-speaking people left empty-handed. In the ‘Best Breaking Act’ category, which highlights new artists, the Schwyz Ländler trio Rusch-Büeblä was preferred to the Valais singer Nuit Incolore.
In the ‘Most Rising Artist Social Media’ category, which rewards activity on social networks, the Bernese Jura resident Phanee de Pool lost to the Graubünden rapper Gigi. And Shuttle, a project by Friborg indie-pop musician Grégoire Pasquier, was not selected in the ‘SRF 3 Best Talent’ category. The prize went to Appenzeller Riana.
