Departures for the Ascension long weekend impact road traffic on Wednesday in front of the northern entrance to the Gotthard tunnel, on the A2. Traffic jams there reached around 13 km at the start of the afternoon.

The waiting time is estimated at more than two hours for motorists traveling in the direction of Ticino before being able to cross the tunnel linking Göschenen (UR) to Airolo (TI), indicates the TCS on the social network closed the motorway entrances from Wassen and Göschenen, heading south, to prevent busy drivers from clogging up the cantonal road.

According to TCS forecasts, the situation should calm down on Friday evening, before the southern entrance becomes clogged from Sunday, at the time of returns.
