Today’s weather: rain in southern Quebec

After the good weather under generous sunshine, the rain will return on Wednesday in southern Quebec due to a low pressure trough carrying a risk of storms which will cause the mercury to drop.

The showers will be accompanied by gusts of 40 km/h and a risk of thunderstorms in certain areas of the south of the province, according to Environment Canada.

In Montreal, for example, the federal agency predicts sometimes sustained showers with 10 to 15 millimeters on the heights, under temperatures of 12 degrees.

The same scenario is expected in areas of western Quebec with rain and falling temperatures, particularly in Outaouais and Témiscamingue.

The low pressure system will affect areas in the center of the province during the afternoon, where the risk of storms is also not excluded, particularly in Estrie.

In Quebec, intermittent rain is expected, but in areas a little further north, the clouds which will certainly predominate will not prevent some clearing.

The federal agency predicts an alternation of sun and clouds with more cloudiness for certain sectors such as Gaspésie, while the mercury will still be falling.

Cloud cover will persist on Thursday in most areas, although clearings cannot be ruled out in places, while the mercury will be on the rise.
