Gratot Castle? A small, timeless architectural marvel in the Manche region, ideal to discover during the About Sculpture event, organized by the Château Entertainment Center.

22 sculptors exhibit their works

This year 7e editing takes place from Thursday May 9 to Sunday May 12, with 22 sculptors. The latter will literally invest the space of this ancient medieval castle, converted into a pleasure residence, built between the 13e and 18e centuries.

Their sculptures in earth, stone, iron, concrete or even electric wire, will be installed in front of the castle outside, inside the ruins but also in the cellars of the building. This represents more than 250 works to admire, or even to acquire if you fall in love and have a compatible budget!

Three jazz concerts

As a nod to the Jazz sous les pommiers festival which takes place at the same time in Coutances, the castle is programming three jazz-oriented concerts. The group The Flat Sharps will perform Friday, at 3 p.m., Les Skaennais will play Saturday, at the same times and it is Renaldh who will provide entertainment on Sunday, from 11 a.m.

Workshops

Adults and children will also be able to learn about artistic practice via workshops orchestrated by two local associations: L’Atelier des 3A and Sculpt’Art. You will be able to discover sculpture on wood, plaster or even cement.

Finally, several artists will offer demonstrations. Everything can be found throughout the day, without prior registration and free of charge. Last year, the site hosted some 3,000 visitors during this event, which is very popular with locals and tourists alike.

Other events to come

About sculpture launches the season at the castle. Several other activities will be offered to you between now and the end of September.
