– 531 founding females captured in Haute-Savoie
The traps installed got the better of many insects which proliferate in the neighboring French department.

Founder females are the reproductive females responsible for the creation of Asian hornet colonies.

As of Saturday April 27, 531 female Asian hornets were captured in Haute-Savoie, according to the liberated Dauphiné. These founders, who are at the origin of the creation of insect colonies, were caught as part of the Asian hornet nest trapping campaign, itself launched by the Haute-Savoie departmental council and the Union of Haute-Savoie beekeeping (Syndapi74).
The Liberated Dauphiné specifies that “5,000 mechanical traps were distributed by Syndapi74.” The spring campaign will end at the end of May. The next, planned for the fall, will focus on female workers “present in areas of concentration of insects or hives in order to protect these spaces.” This system is active in 90 municipalities in the Haute-Savoie department.
