Saturday May 4, around 3 p.m., Puy-en-Velay police officers carried out a patrol on rue Bernard, on the heights of Aiguilhe. They spot an individual driving at high speed in an Audi.

By carrying out a check, the police noted that this 38-year-old Ponot no longer has a license, following several arrests for driving under drugs.

He was to serve an eight-month prison sentence.

They then decide to carry out a saliva test which turns out to be positive for cocaine. The suspect is arrested and taken into police custody, where he tries to minimize the facts. According to him, he was not driving on the public highway since he was only moving his vehicle because it was obstructing traffic.

But the investigators are not at the end of their surprise since they realize that Ponot must serve an eight-month prison sentence for a previous case. Brought before the court on Monday, he was directly incarcerated at the Puy-en-Velay remand center to serve his sentence.

He will be tried again for driving under drugs, after receiving additional toxicological examinations carried out over the weekend.
