The Rector of UCAD, through his spokesperson Mbaye Thiam, provided clarifications following the release of the Sudes/Esr Ucad section on the parachuting of Ismaila Madior Fall. Indeed, in a press release dated Monday, May 7, the Sudes/Esr UCAD section accuses the rector of Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD) of trying to insert Professor Ismaëla Madior Fall at the Fundamental Institute of Black Africa (IFAN).

In this sense, Professor Mbaye Thiam, in his capacity as spokesperson for the Rector, affirmed that this procedure falls within the normal framework of the regulations in force. According to him, Ismaila Madior Fall, once returned to her original faculty, can request her assignment to IFAN. However, this decision does not rest with the rector, who simply validates the choices of the departure and receiving authorities.

“It is not up to the Rector to assign someone to IFAN. To be sent to IFAN, the original department of the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences must issue a favorable opinion,” explained Professor Mbaye Thiam on Rfm. He also specified that IFAN must also issue a favorable opinion to welcome the teacher.

It was noted that for the moment, Ismaïla Madior Fall has returned to the Faculty of Law without any steps for his assignment to IFAN having been taken. However, the issue was discussed at a general meeting at IFAN on Monday morning, prompting Sudes/Esr to respond.

Furthermore, the union considers that in terms of optimal management of human resources, the former Minister of Justice, Full Professor of Public Law, would be more useful in his original Faculty, “where management tasks await him.” teaching and supervision”.

Professor Mbaye Thiam stressed that joining IFAN does not mean abandoning teaching. “If he joins IFAN, he does not stop teaching. Colleagues from literature, science, law and economics are at IFAN to devote themselves more effectively to research. This does not, however, exempt them from teaching in their original Faculty. They continue to do so,” added the rector’s spokesperson.

It should be noted that eminent researchers such as Abdoulaye Bara Diop or Momar Coumba Diop have already left their original faculty to join IFAN.
