“At the invitation of HE Alassane OUATTARA, President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, HE Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar FAYE, President of the Republic of Senegal, made an official visit to the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, on May 7, 2024 He was accompanied by a large delegation made up of members of the Government and senior Senegalese personalities.

The stay of the Senegalese Head of State is part of the strengthening of the ties of friendship, fraternity and cooperation existing between Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire. President Alassane OUATTARA renewed his congratulations to His Excellency Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar FAYE for his brilliant election to the Presidency of Senegal.

During this visit, the two Heads of State had face-to-face meetings and a working session extended to the two delegations, during which they provided a broad overview of bilateral issues, under regional, African and international, in an atmosphere marked by cordiality and perfect understanding.

On a bilateral level, the two Presidents expressed their satisfaction with the fraternal and friendly nature of the ties that have always existed between the two countries. They reaffirmed their common desire to do everything possible to further develop them by strengthening cooperation at the political, security and economic levels.

In this regard, they decided to raise cooperation to a strategic level and instructed their ministers in charge of Foreign Affairs to pool their efforts, with a view to strengthening the Abidjan-Dakar axis through regular high-level consultations on issues. of common interest.

In this spirit, the two Heads of State agreed to favor the exploration of priority areas such as fishing, agriculture, culture, tourism, trade, defense, security, health, education and sport. President Alassane OUATTARA and his host, deeply convinced that development cannot be achieved without strong internal and sub-regional stability, have agreed to unite their actions and strengthen them with a view to effectively combating terrorism and all related criminal activities. .

They also agreed to consult regularly on these major issues. Addressing sub-regional issues, the two Presidents particularly expressed their concern about the security situation in the sub-region and in the Sahel, in the face of terrorist attacks which threaten the viability of States.

They reiterated their solidarity with the brotherly peoples of the countries affected by this scourge as well as their availability to support all efforts promoting the rapid return of peace and security. Examining the economic situation of the sub-region, Presidents Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar FAYE and Alassane OUATTARA reaffirmed their common desire to work for the achievement of sub-regional and African integration.
