Drugs and weapons seized in Sept-Îles and Port-Cartier

Three searches, two arrests in connection with the armed violence of recent weeks.

The SQ_SPUM joint investigation team carried out two arrests and searches in Port-Cartier and Sept-Îles in connection with the armed violence of recent weeks and drug trafficking. The police arrested Marie-Hélène Boulianne, 37, in Port-Cartier on Monday evening, then Jimmy Chiasson, 26, in Sept-Îles this morning.

The two suspects appeared this afternoon on charges related to drug trafficking. Marie-Hélène Boulianne was released and Jimmy Chiasson will remain in prison.

The first search took place on Boulevard Portage-des-Mousses. The investigators from the mixed team then visited two homes in Sept-Îles, namely a residence on Smith Street and an apartment on Marsolet Street.

Rifle, cocaine…

Investigators got their hands on a pellet rifle (imitation assault weapon), more than 60 grams of cocaine, approximately 11 grams of magic mushroom, more than 5 grams of Chrystal meth, several methamphetamine tablets, $700 in cash Canadian and several cell phones.

The Sept-Rivières mixed investigation team is made up of five police officers from the Sûreté du Québec and Uashat Mak Mani-Utenam Public Security.
