A 20-year-old motorist died in a road accident this Tuesday, May 7 around 6:30 p.m. in Agincourt, on the outskirts of Nancy. After leaving the road, his vehicle, a minivan, hit a tree. The driver was in cardiorespiratory arrest when emergency services arrived; he died a few minutes later despite their resuscitation attempts. “The shock was very violent,” explains Lieutenant Mathis.
Two other young people injured
Two 19-year-old passengers were in the vehicle. Slightly injured, they were treated by an SMUR ambulance then taken to Nancy Central Hospital. Firefighters from Tomblaine and Joffre arrived on site around 6:40 p.m. and mobilized a van and two ambulances.
The accident occurred in Agincourt on the Strategic Road, less than a kilometer from rue Sainte-Geneviève and on the border of two other municipalities: Essey-lès-Nancy and Dommartemont. The road, surrounded by orchards and forest, is limited to 30 km/h. It was blocked by the police, who arrived first for several hours in both directions, forcing motorists heading towards Dommartemont to turn around.
The gendarmerie took over, in its area of expertise, to shed light on the circumstances of the tragedy.
