The navigator Yoann Richomme won the 15th in the United States this Monday, May 7.e edition of The Transat race. Aboard his sailboat Paprec Arkéa, the double winner of the Route du Rhum (2018, 2022), crossed the finish line at 2:23 p.m. (8:23 p.m. in France), i.e. 8 days 6 hours and 53 minutes after his departure from Lorient .
Boris Herrmann (Malizia) and Samantha Davies (Initiatives Coeur) completed the podium of this qualifying transatlantic race for the Vendée Globe.
“We had a transatlantic intense with a very competitive fleet so I have a lot of pride in crossing the line first. The beginning was difficult, but overall I felt great on board“, he declared shortly after his victory.
He overtook the Norman Charlie Dalin (Macif) halfway through Thursday, in the middle of the North Atlantic, and then never let go of the lead of the fleet, manhandled by difficult weather conditions which led to several abandonments.
A good omen for the Vendée Globe
