Through its president, Sylvie Laplasse, the association safeguarding the Environment in the Courtomer region is jubilant. The Trémont (Orne) wind farm extension project will remain on the cards.

The appeal, filed by the company IEL Exploitation, was examined during the admission hearing of the cassation appeal, on April 4, 2024, before the sixth chamber of the litigation section of the Council of State. It has just delivered its deliberations and concluded that the opposing appeal should not be admitted.

As a reminder, the IEL promoter and the Ministry of Ecology appealed the decision of the Nantes Court of Appeal No. 20NT02645 on March 31, 2023 canceling the prefectural environmental authorization following the damage to the landscape and the cathedral of Sées.

The minister’s withdrawal

Initially, the Ministry of Ecology did not produce, within the legal deadline, the additional memorandum expected by the Council of State. This procedure therefore ended prematurely. “A court order notes the withdrawal of the Minister of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion on the appeal he had filed against the judgment of the Nantes Administrative Court of Appeal of March 31, 2023 “.

“A long battle”

The association is therefore pleased that “this long battle, waged with the sole idea of defending our environment and our living environment, against this pseudo-ecological absurdity that is wind power, is crowned with the ultimate victory. We thank all our supporters and allies, all the associations, who through their solidarity and help have contributed to this.”
