Announced last Friday, the resignation of Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko from his post as mayor of the city of Ziguinchor was made official this Monday.

In Senegal, the new members appointed by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye are forced to leave their former position. In accordance with the texts in force, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko laid down the apron as head of the executive at Ziguinchor town hall. A note which was sent to the governor of the Ziguinchor region Mor Talla TINE this Monday by the Minister of Local Authorities, Planning and Territorial Development.

After receiving the resignation, the governor therefore proceeded to appoint the deputy mayor Aïda Bodiang to take over in the interim. According to information, the now ex-mayor of Ziguinchor has already informed his close collaborators of his decision. Everything which proves that despite his new republican functions, Ousmane Sonko will always be attached to his city and to listening to them.
