Classes are suspended until Tuesday inclusive on the four campuses of Cégep de Lanaudière due to a cyberattack.

The management of the college confirms, in a message sent to students and of which TVA Nouvelles obtained a copy, that “certain Cégep de Lanaudière servers were victims of a cyberattack on May 3.”

“No data leak” is however suspected for the moment, it is specified, adding that the investigation is still ongoing.

This means that the four Cégep establishments are closed on May 6 and 7 “so as to avoid any problems related to access to the premises which are for the most part electronic,” we indicate.

Face-to-face and distance learning courses are therefore suspended for both regular and continuing training.

For its part, the Fernand-Lindsay music school, whose premises are located on the Joliette campus of the school, indicates on Facebook that the cyberattack would affect the computer system including “lighting, heating, ventilation, and the fire alarm system.

Cégep de Lanaudière also has campuses in Terrebonne and L’Assomption as well as a head office and a continuing education department located in Repentigny.

The school management will provide an update on the situation during the day on Tuesday.

“Different scenarios are being evaluated, both that of continuing the suspension and resuming classes and activities,” we indicate in an email sent to TVA Nouvelles. Every hour that passes right now is precious for our IT team; we will be able to make an informed decision in just over 24 hours.”
