The documentary meetings of the Forum des images:

1. 100% Doc :

Weekly meeting : Every Tuesday.
Documentary cinema, a cinematic genre with multiple forms and writings, occupies a special place in the programming. Every Tuesday, two sessions are devoted to it. These 100% doc evenings bring together heritage works, previews, new films in theaters and meetings with filmmakers.

2. Documentary on the big screen

Monthly appointment : the first Tuesday of the month
The first Tuesday of the month, carte blanche is given to the Documentary on the big screen association. Thirty years ago, this chosen name sounded like a slogan for the very young association. Today, if the vitality and creativity of this young cinema no longer needs to be proven, its diffusion on the big screen remains an ardent challenge.

3. Simone de Beauvoir Audiovisual Center

Punctual appointment.
On several evenings during the season, the Simone de Beauvoir Audiovisual Center presents films from its collection of international documentaries on the history, rights and creation of women and LGBTQ+. Screenings in the presence of the directors and followed by a debate.

• Tuesday May 7: Documentary on the big screen

6:30 p.m.: Back to the wall – Six weeks of strikes with Alsthom Saint-Ouen workers, by Jean-Pierre Thorn

In October 1979, Alsthom workers in Saint-Ouen occupied the factory, demanding better working conditions. Thorn, who worked there for eight years, follows the evolution of this movement closely, attentive to the expression of a common political conscience.

Presented by Claire Allouche, critic, doctoral student and cinema teacher.

9 p.m.: The Song of the Forgotten, by Luc Decaster

Paying the price of a cruel relocation, the Semperit factory in Argenteuil closes its doors. The politicized community of its workers is dissolved by force of circumstances. Before the place is destroyed, the chants of the machines revive a sound memory of worker gestures as well as industrial symphonies of the past century.

Screening followed by a debate.
In the presence of Luc Decaster, filmmaker.

• Tuesday May 14:

6:30 p.m.: Louise, her father, her mothers, her brother, by Stéphane Mercurio

Two women who love each other have a child with the husband of a very good friend. Lots of love and life in this tender and joyful portrait which shows how we can “be a family” in many ways.

8 p.m.: Revolution of Our Times, by Kiwi Chow

As Hong Kong prepares to ratify the 2019 extradition law which marks China’s final takeover of this territory, the streets are rising. A look back at this unprecedented revolutionary moment.

• Tuesday May 21: Kamal Aljafari special

6:45 p.m.: The Roof + Balconies, by Kamal Aljafari

The Roof : The filmmaker who lives in Berlin returns to see his family in Palestine.
A powerful and personal documentary about home, houses, walls, history and the ravages of war.

Balconies : Inspired by the poet Federico García Lorca (“But from now on I am no longer me, and my house is no longer my home…”), a sublime and profound visual essay on the balconies left unfinished or destroyed in Ramla, in Palestine, including the filmmaker is a native.

In the presence of filmmaker Kamal Aljafari and Occitane Lacurie (critic and researcher).

9 p.m.: In Fidai + Paradiso, XXXI, 108, by Kamal Aljafari

A Fidai Film : In 1982, in Beirut, the Israeli army destroyed and misappropriated Palestinian archives.
This film is a counter-proposal which offers a formal, poetic and political counter-shot to this erasure.

Paradise, XXXI, 108 : Based on images taken from Israeli military propaganda from the 1960s and 1970s, this film shows men playing at war

• Tuesday May 28:

6:30 p.m.: In the shoes of a boss, by Stéphan Moszkowicz

This captivating portrait of two bosses, one of a large Anglo-Saxon group and the other of an SME with a “local” profile, brings into play the managerial discourses that have shaped our lives in recent decades.

8:45 p.m.: Simone de Beauvoir Audiovisual Center – Tribute to Sarah Maldoror

In this selection of short films, Sarah Maldoror takes her unique look at characters from the Théâtre des Griots, on the Haitian singer Toto Bissainthe, and even Christiane Diop, editor at Présence Africaine.

Presented by Annouchka de Andrade, daughter of the filmmaker.
With the participation of Mariann Mathéus, musician and actress.
Screening followed by a debate.
