It is a visit with many consequences for Parisians. On an exceptional state visit to Paris this Monday and until Tuesday noon, Chinese President Xi Jinping has, despite himself, paralyzed part of the capital’s transport network since Sunday. When he arrived at Orly airport, the Chinese president first disrupted traffic around the Val-de-Marnaise base.

According to witnesses contacted by Le Parisien, several vehicles were stopped in the region-Paris direction on the A6 while trying to reach the ring road. The inner ring road was also closed, as were several metro stations in western Paris, as well as many streets.

“Announced yesterday by the RATP, it’s difficult to organize”, https://twitter.com/elledes_/status/1787392079028453455 (formerly Twitter) at the mention of closed metro stations. In fact, the stations on line 6 between Trocadéro and Charles de Gaulle-Etoile cannot be used, in both directions, until Tuesday noon.

The Invalides (line 8 and 13), Champs-Elysées-Clémenceau (line 1 and 13) and Musée d’Orsay (RER C) stations have been closed since 8 a.m. and until 7 p.m. this Monday, indicated the police headquarters for “security measures”.

Traffic problems which continue in the streets of the capital. Several major roads do not allow cars to circulate, such as the Champs-Élysées for a large part, the streets surrounding the Madeleine church, or even those around the Invalides.

These restrictions are in addition to those linked to the organization of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Thus, the areas of Trocadéro, Champ-de-Mars or for example Place de la Concorde no longer leave local residents free to travel by motor vehicle.
