SENEGAL-CULTURE / Artistic itineraries of Saint-Louis: the curator of the exhibition welcomes the visibility offered to artists – Senegalese press agency

Saint-Louis, May 6 (APS) – The exhibition of “Artistic Routes of Saint-Louis”, scheduled from May 4 to June 10, offers visibility to the artists who participate in this cultural event which celebrates this year, its tenth edition , estimated Omar Diack, curator of the said exhibition.

“This event is a platform that allows many artists to shine nationally or internationally,” said Mr. Diack, emphasizing “the visibility offered by the artistic itineraries of Saint-Louis.”

He was speaking on Saturday on the sidelines of the opening of an exhibition marking the start of the “Artistic Routes of Saint-Louis”, at the Senegal Research and Documentation Center (CRDS).

According to him, “this event offers many young artists the opportunity to confirm their talent (…)”.

“The artistic routes of Saint-Louis”, initiated by “Ndar creation” by the artist, Abdou Karim Fall, have welcomed in ten years of existence, 263 artists, who exhibited 519 works of which 89 were sold.

“This great initiative, beyond the artistic and cultural value, legitimizes decentralization and the democratization of culture in a very beautiful way,” said the director of the National Gallery of Art, Anne Marie Faye.

She praised “the originality, creativity and richness of the artistic productions of our artists and foreigners”.

According to her, “the ministry [de la Culture] will continue to support this initiative institutionally and financially.”

Abdou Karim Fall thanked the director of the CRDS, Fatima Fall, for having opened this institution to the “Artistic Routes of Saint-Louis” during these ten years of existence.

This collaboration allowed eighteen American artists who have a partnership with the CRDS to participate in this edition, he said.

He also thanked the Cuemo foundation which has supported this initiative on the national cultural agenda since the beginning.

According to a press release from the association “Ndar creation”, organizer of the event, eighteen American artists are expected at this event which will also see the participation of artists from France, Gambia, Mauritania, Burkina Faso and France.

In addition to Saint-Louis artists, participants come from the regions of Dakar, Thiès, Louga and Ziguinchor.
