60,000 euros. Here is the amount of the prize pool which was opened on April 26, 2024, by the Heritage Foundation. The objective of the latter is to finance part of the renovation work of theSaint-Martin church from Ozouer-le-Voulgis (Seine et Marne).

“Faced with his state of danger, the mayor, Gérard Champinelected in September 2022, wishes to restore this central symbol of the commune to preserve its historical and architectural heritage,” comments the Heritage Foundation.

Frame, coatings and masonry

Built on an old 13th century oratorye century, theRenaissance style building notably houses furniture dating from the 18th centurye century. The architectural ensemble, characterized by its ornate vaults and octagonal pillars, offers a remarkable testimony to the art and history of the territory.

Nevertheless, thechurch suffers from the ravages of time. A restoration of the site is necessary. “The battens of the framework are dilapidated, deformations are observed, and the coatings are deteriorating. Cracks compromise the vault of the nave, while the electrical installations are not compliant. Other problems affect the roof, the masonry and the belfry. Urgent intervention is necessary to guarantee the security and preservation of this historic place,” lists the Heritage Foundation.

Thus, a restoration project is planned from 2025, for nearly 750,000 euros. In order to financially help this project, the Foundation has therefore set up a prize pool of 60,000 euros. A great boost for the church!
