Minors’ offenses worry the Vaud Public Prosecutor’s Office

At the Municipal Stadium, Yverdon Sport largely dominated its rival Lausanne-Sport. The Nord-Vaudois won 3-1.

At kickoff, the two teams seemed to size each other up. And everything was unlocked in the 9th minute. Yverdon-Sport benefited from a corner. It was Igor Liziero who was responsible for pulling it. The ball ended up at the feet of a Lausanne player who tried to clear it but Marley Aké was able to intercept the leather at the back. The midfielder quickly passed to Mathias Olesen, who sent it back to his right to Liziero. The Brazilian then made an excellent cross which allowed Dimitrije Kamenovic to head the ball and deceive the Lausanne goalkeeper.

The “Kevin Carlos case”

Five minutes later, it was Kevin Carlos who started to widen the gap. The striker sprinted off, closely followed by Gabor Szalai. But he defeated his opponent as well as Karlo Letica in front of the cage to score 2-0. The scene is relatively spectacular for the spectators, but when we ask Kevin Carlos to tell us about it, he simply replies that “I was sent a long pass, I took off with the ball and I scored. ” With a big smile, he adds: “Yes, I felt that the Lausanne defender was very close, but I was able to push him away with my body, and I scored.”

And as they say, never two without three. In the 17th minute, Yverdon’s third goal was scored from a corner. A very good shot from Olesen that Kevin Carlos (again!) headed perfectly into the goal. “I felt it very well because that’s what we worked on yesterday in training,” describes Kevin Carlos with a laugh.

While the players celebrated this third success, Alessandro Mangiarratti, the Yverdon coach, was in a different state of mind. In his space in front of the bench, we saw him raise his voice to give instructions to his players. What did he tell them?

However, there was no new goal, neither on one side nor the other, in the process.

In the post-match press conference, Ludovic Magnin spoke of the “Kevin Carlos case” following the Yverdon player’s double. The LS coach was annoyed by the fact that his players did not win a single duel against the Spanish-Nigerian striker. “We know the player. He is very good when he has space, when a team plays very high. So in fact, we are the optimal prototype for this type of player.” There is also a question of mentality. “It’s certain, if he wins the first duels, he gains confidence and my players lose their confidence,” continues Ludovic Magnin. And so we saw today, he gave us misery and it drives me crazy.”

Lausanne collapses

Ludovic Magnin’s men thought they could reduce the score in the 25th minute. The ball hit the net well, but Kaly Sène was clearly offside. The goal was logically canceled. And then the Lausannois saw their biggest opportunity in the 28th minute. Simone Pafundi, almost from the corner of the field, sent the ball to the far post for Rares Ilie. There, everything happened very quickly. He tried his luck but the Yverdon goalkeeper pushed the ball back… onto the post. The ball returned to the feet of Kamenovic who accidentally put it back… on the post. When it doesn’t want, it doesn’t want.

Noë Dussenne saved the honor of LS by scoring from the penalty spot in the 61st minute. Yverdon certainly found the solutions, but the Lausanne defense was clearly not in top form to allow these three balls to pass in eight minutes. Especially since Lausanne played more than 30 minutes with one more man on the pitch following the expulsion of Mohamed Tijani.

The feelings of Noë Dussenne, captain and defender of LS, were far from pleasant at the end of the match.

But if there was nothing surprising in Yverdon’s game, how can we explain this lack of efficiency?

In the meantime, Ludovic Magnin has brought down the emotions a little. But at the time of the interview, the Lausanne coach was still quite angry.

The coach mentioned the fact that, until three weeks ago, LS played as a team. And that in Lugano, just like in Yverdon, it was no longer a team that was playing. What happened in the locker room during this time?

What can be put in place to ultimately teach them how to handle his praise?

Conversely, team spirit is what succeeded in Yverdon according to Alessandro Mangiarratti.

Despite this victory, survival is not yet assured for Yverdon who remains 10 points behind Grasshopper, current play-off player. Lausanne-Sport for its part is only 7 points ahead. For Noë Dussenne, “we must question ourselves, but not be alarmed. There are still four games left and we must not sound the alarm because we lost today at Yverdon.” Next Friday, LS welcomes FC Basel, a match “that we must win”, said the Lausanne captain.

For its part, Yverdon will travel to Pontaise to face Stade Lausanne Ouchy.

Wasted late afternoon

The match offered a nice spectacle to the 3,800 spectators present at the Municipal Stadium. Unfortunately, the end of the afternoon was marred by further clashes between supporters. Once the Lausanne procession had passed, part of the ultras remained at the bridge in front of the stadium. Projectiles were thrown towards Yverdon supporters and vice versa. The police had to intervene, notably with gas. Result: a horde of panicked children, some in tears, and their parents, who were simply trying to get home, ran back to take shelter towards the stadium. The people still present around could only observe the scene with disappointment.
