The magazine 30 Millions d’amis has published the ranking of cities in France “where it is good to live with your dog”. This year, Montpellier ranks in fourth place.
A place granted according to an annual ranking by the magazine 30 Millions d’amis and ‘Better Cities for pets’, revealed in April 2024. In all, 42 French cities (with more than 100,000 inhabitants) participate in this ranking. Many criteria are used. The first of these concerns accessibility to public spaces: do parks and gardens allow access for dogs? Can I take public transport with my dog? Are there dog parks?
Cleanliness, accessibility, awareness…
The second criterion concerns cleanliness and the presence in particular of waste bag dispensers. Furthermore, does the city carry out campaigns to raise awareness among citizens about living well with their dogs? Finally, the municipality’s commitment through services (animal cemetery, pound, etc.) is also evaluated. Last year, Montpellier found itself on the podium in third position behind Lille and Nice.
