The Branféré animal park, in Guerno in Morbihan, has seen several animals born in recent months. These births are part of a European breeding program to which the park adheres with the aim of conserving endangered species. This is an opportunity for visitors to discover its baby animals alongside the 1,500 birds or mammals that coexist within the park.

Since December, it has been one of the attractions of Parc de Branféré.

Sonaj, barely 5 months old, is the only rhino born in 2023 in an animal park in Europe. Last week, he was able to take his first steps outside, clinging to his mother’s coattails.

A little further away, Raia, a Siamang baby born a few months ago, is also enjoying the rays of the sun.

It’s a fairly rare birth, notes Alexandre Petry, zoological director of the Branféré park. Last year, there were only two births in European parks because they are part of a European-wide breeding plan and we must follow recommendations to guarantee the survival of this species in zoo“.
