“We are going to make targeted, temporary, exceptional contributions, first to large businesses, but also to households who can participate.” Guest of “4 truths” 2, Thursday October 3, the Minister of the Budget gave details on the taxpayers affected by the tax increases “temporary”future : “For some households, we are talking about 0.3%, a household without children which receives income of around 500,000 euros per year, (…) we can legitimately ask taxpayers to participate”explained Laurent Saint-Martin. Limit new taxes. Asked about a possible tax for energy companies, the minister gave details: “All large companies, each as they can, and in relation to their sector of activity, must contribute…” The minister confirmed that he was in favor of participation “exceptional” for companies that make more than a billion euros in profits.

Retirees put to work. Michel Barnier’s government will finally involve retirees in the budgetary recovery effort to the tune of 4 billion, by postponing the indexation of pensions to inflation by 6 months. The CGT quickly denounced, in a press release, a “austerity measure” for retirees.

60 billion savings to be made. The draft budget for 2025, which will be unveiled on October 10, provides for a massive effort of 60 billion euros in savings. Environ “two thirds” of this budgetary effort, or 40 billion, will come from a reduction in public spending, assured the Prime Minister. He intends to find an additional 20 billion on the revenue side, in particular from targeted taxes and “exceptional”.
