Algerian diplomacy has not yet notified the Algerian consular authorities in Casablanca of the new visa procedure, according to several corroborating sources contacted by L’Opinion.
Some Moroccan nationals who are preparing to go to Algeria for professional reasons have encountered refusal.
In fact, the procedure has not yet been put in place and, therefore, it is impossible to apply for a visa,” a well-informed source tells us.
Now, there is nothing to suggest that the procedure will be developed quickly by the Algerian authorities who seem to have an interest in ensuring that procedural vagueness continues as long as possible.
As a reminder, Algeria has decided to impose an entry visa into its territory on holders of a Moroccan passport. A decision justified by the so-called imperative need to counter the “Zionist” spy agents that Morocco would have deployed in Algeria, according to the narrative of Algerian diplomacy. A measure which reflects the level of paranoia experienced by the Algerian government which seems to live in a parallel universe.
The imposition of the Algerian visa was received with indifference in Morocco where several commentators reacted with derision. Except for a few exceptional cases who go to Algeria to participate in international events, particularly sporting events, no one in the Kingdom feels concerned.
